Are your legs ready for the summer season? As the weather gets warmer, people wear swimsuits and other revealing clothing. Here are a few treatments you can start now so you’ll be confident and ready to show off your legs.
Do you have cellulite that bothers you? We now have a new treatment that treats the uneven skin surface called Qwo. Qwo is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved, non-surgical, injectable treatment for cellulite. Cellulite is in part caused by fibrous bands under your skin that get thick and pull down on the skin, creating dimples. The active ingredient in Qwo is a purified enzyme that degrades these bands, releasing the skin and giving a smooth texture. Dr. Alex recommends a series of three Qwo treatments done every six to eight weeks. Bruising is common with Qwo so Dr. Alex recommends starting your series of treatments before the summer when the weather is cooler and it’s easier to cover your skin with clothing. Dr. Alex also recommends combining your Qwo treatment with a series of laser skin treatments for even better results.

Do you have a banana roll? You know, that pocket of fat under the butt that sometimes looks like a banana. If so, Kybella is the perfect treatment for you. Kybella is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved, non-surgical, injectable treatment for stubborn fat. Kybella works well for the banana roll and can be used in other areas such as the double chin in your neck, bra fat below your underarms, and stubborn belly fat around your waist. The active ingredient in Kybella is a salt that’s found naturally in your body and used to digest the fat that you eat. When placed in the skin, Kybella will dissolve the fat and it’s naturally removed by your body slowly over time. There is a good amount of swelling after a Kybella treatment so be prepared for that. Dr. Alex recommends a series of two to four Kybella treatments done every two to three months. The best thing about Kybella is that your results will be permanent, so you won’t need maintenance treatments like you do with Botox or fillers. Dr. Alex recommends combining your Kybella treatment with a series of laser skin tightening treatments for even better results.

Do you have pesky veins on your legs that make you self-conscious? We are able to treat these small veins with a laser leg vein treatment. The laser leg vein targets the blood in these veins, heating it up and destroying the veins. A laser leg vein treatment takes only a few minutes and is painless and doesn’t require numbing cream. You can resume your normal activities right after your laser leg vein treatment; you don’t need compression stockings like you do with injections (sclerotherapy). Some people see improvement after a single session, but others require three or more sessions for best results. Dr. Alex recommends spacing the treatments every two to three months.
