What is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein that is used to treat wrinkles that are associated with facial expressions such as raising your eyebrows, frowning, and smiling. The most common areas treated with Botox are the horizontal lines seen on your forehead when you raise your eyebrows, the vertical lines (sometimes called elevens) seen between your eyebrows when you frown, and the crow’s feet seen around your eyes when you smile or squint. Botox works by relaxing the muscles you use to make these expressions; this makes the wrinkles disappear. Most people start to see the result of their Botox treatment in a few days and enjoy the results of their Botox treatment for three to four months.
Year of Botox Program
The Year of Botox Program is available for anyone who receives at least 40 units of Botox at each treatment. To participate in the Year of Botox Program you invest in four Botox treatments (which provides at least a year of wrinkle-free skin) and you will either receive one complimentary IPL photofacial treatment ($350 value) or up to 12 additional units of Botox at each treatment. What other areas can be treated with Botox
In addition to the areas in the upper face that are traditionally treated with Botox, there are a number of other areas in the mid-face, lower face, and body where Botox can be used. Some people see what are called bunny lines on the upper nose when they frown, smile, or scrunch their nose. This can be treated with Botox placed in the skin on the upper nose. A few units of Botox can be placed around the lips to provide a natural pout. In some people, the tip of the nose goes downward when they smile; this can be treated by placing Botox just below the base of the nose. Some people have what is called a gummy smile. When some people smile, the upper lip goes up go high that not only the entirety of their upper teeth show, but the gums above the upper lip show too. This is called a gummy smile and can be corrected by placing a small amount of Botox beside the nose. Botox can be placed in a muscle in the lower face to elevate the corners of the mouth by about one millimeter. Botox can also be placed on the chin for people who have a bumpy or cobblestone appearance there.The Nefertiti neck lift is a treatment where Botox is placed under the jawline to sharpen and define the jawline. Some people have vertical bands on their neck which can be treated with Botox. Botox can also be placed in the muscle in the lower face that you use to bite. This will narrow the lower face, providing a youthful appearance. It also helps decrease pain in people that grind or clench their teeth. For non-cosmetic purposes, Botox can be placed in various areas to treat migraine headaches and excessive sweating in your underarms, the palms of your hands, and the soles of your feet.
