What is Kybella?
Kybella is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved, non-surgical, injectable treatment for unwanted fat such as the double chin (also called submental fullness). It can also be used on other areas such as the bra fat below the underarms, belly, and banana roll under the butt. The active ingredient in Kybella is a salt natural found in your body that’s used to digest the fat that you eat. When placed in the skin Kybella will dissolve the fat and it’s removed by your body slowly over time.
What does a Kybella treatment involve?
The Kybella treatment is very easy. Most people say the experience is much easier than they thought it would be. We start by taking baseline photographs to monitor your progress. Then we numb the skin with topical cream for about 15 minutes. Next the skin is cleaned with water and cleansing solution and the area is marked. The Kybella is placed in the skin in the entire area using a tiny needle. We recently got new needles that are 40% smaller, making it even more comfortable. Additionally, we blow cold air on the area to make the skin numb and place a vibrating distractor on the skin nearby. The treatment itself takes just a few minutes.
What can I expect after a Kybella treatment?
After a Kybella treatment the area will be hot for about 15 minutes. We apply ice packs on the area during this time and we will send you home with ice packs and straps to hold them in place. The treated area will be swollen for one to two weeks after your Kybella treatment. This is normal and means that the Kybella is working. Sometimes you will see or feel small lumps or bumps in the area (called nodules) that will go away on their own.
How many Kybella treatments will I need?
Most people have anywhere from two to four Kybella treatments. Dr. Alex recommends spacing the treatments every three months for best effects. You will want to have at least two treatments and wait three months after your second treatment before looking for results. Results are slow and take time.
How long will the results of my Kybella treatment last?
The best thing about Kybella is that once the fat in the area is removed, the skin can no longer store nor accumulate fat. So you won’t need any maintenance treatments like you would with Botox, fillers, or laser treatments.

What is laser skin tightening?
Laser skin tightening is an easy treatment which uses gentle micro-pulses of infrared light to slowly and gently heat the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates your body to product its own natural, new, fresh, and healthy collagen, which firms and tightens the skin. The laser skin tightening treatment takes about five to ten minutes and does not required numbing cream or other anesthesia. Gel is placed on the skin to conduct the light and the handpiece moves back and forth on the skin. Dr. Alex recommend a series of six laser skin tightening treatments done every one to two weeks between your first and second Kybella treatments. The laser skin tightening will tighten the skin in the area, reduce the inflammation, and decrease any nodules on the area.
