Botox is a purified protein used to treat certain wrinkles on the face caused by expressions. When injected into the skin, Botox relaxes the muscles and smoothens out the wrinkles on the skin. The areas most commonly treated with Botox are the horizontal lines on the forehead seen when we raise our eyebrows, the vertical lines between the eyebrows seen when we frown, and the crow's feet around the eyes seen when we smile or squint. Results with Botox are seen as early as three days after a treatment, but it could take up to two weeks to see full results. Most people enjoy the results of Botox for three to four months. As with any injection there is a risk for pain, bleeding, bruising, and infection. We take careful precautions to minimize these risks. At A E Skin, Dr. Alex has developed a painless Botox technique for patient comfort. After a Botox treatment, please avoid heat, alcohol, and exercise for 24 hours after the treatment and do not lie down flat for four hours after the treatment. These can lead to other side effects such as blurred vision and droopy eyelids. Women who are pregnant, breast feeding, or trying to get pregnant should not have Botox treatments.
