Volbella

Volbella is the newest member of the Juvederm family, which includes Juvederm and Voluma. The Juvederm family is a line of dermal fillers used to restore volume to the face. As we age we naturally lose volume in various areas. At the same time there are structural changes in the bones and we lose collagen in the skin. As a result we see signs of aging such as sagging skin, volume loss in the apples of the cheeks, parentheses lines, jowls, and smaller lips. The Juvederm family of products is designed to counteract these changes and provide a youthful, healthy, and rested appearance.

What does Volbella treat?

Volbella is specifically designed for the lips and the areas around the lips. In the lips it provides volume and can shape the lips, enhancing the borders and improving the definition. It will also smoothen out the lines that form on the lips over time. In the areas directly around the lips Volbella can fill in fine lines such as the smokers lines which are frequently seen as we age in smokers or non-smokers.

How is Volbella used in treatment?

Volbella is injected into the skin using a fine needle to temporarily fill in and augment the lips and smooth fine wrinkles around the mouth.

How long does a Volbella treatment usually take?

The Volbella injection process generally takes only about 15 minutes. You’ll also need to allow time to consult with Dr. Alex prior to treatment. Pre-treatment with numbing medications can take up to 30 minutes.

Does the correction with Volbella last forever?

Correction with Volbella is temporary. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results. Touch up treatments may be necessary to maintain desired results. Most patients see results that last for approximately one year. Individual results vary.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

Is treatment with Volbella painful?

Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Volbella allows Dr. Alex to administer it easily and smoothly. Volbella is injected using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. At A E Skin we numb the treatment area with a topical cream or injection to maximize your comfort.

What are the possible side effects of Volbella?

Treating wrinkles with Volbella is fast and safe and leaves no scars or other traces on the face. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (seven days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection. People with a history of cold sores may experience a recurrence after the treatment, although this can be minimized by the use of antiviral medicines.

What makes Volbella different from other dermal fillers?

Volbella is the only hyaluronic acid filler FDA indicated for lip enhancement approved to last up to one year after initial treatment. The manufacturing process provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also works to create a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. All other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers currently on the market are made of granular consistency gels.
